Barcaldine Saleyards - Testimonial
“The Barcaldine Saleyards complex is a first-class facility built & owned by the Barcaldine Regional Council. Barcaldine is situated at the junction of the Capricorn Highway to the east & the Landsborough Highway to the south& west. To the north is the highway to Aramac & on to the Torrens Creek highway. The new saleyards join the Queensland Rail trucking yards& are built beside the Showground & Race Course complex. The yards are all built using galvanized, oval cattle rail & galvanized RHS posts. With troughs in each pen a wet curfew can be managed.
The Barcaldine saleyards offer an all-weather unloading facility for weighing, spelling, & selling of cattle. The state of the art weighing facility is certified annually. The weighing of cattle can be observed by interested parties in a safe & pleasant environment. Managed professionally by Kaitlyn & Cameron Dare, the feeding of hay & water management ensures that the welfare of the cattle is the number one priority. The complex is well maintained by Cameron & Kaitwhoare on call 24 hours a day 7 days a week to unload & weigh & feed cattle.
On sale days a canteen operated by willing volunteers provides meals & drinks in the shade of numerous fig trees. A short walk from the canteen, the bull selling ring is a secure facility that is complemented by comfortable covered seating. The red sandy loam on which the town of Barcaldine has been built ensures that wet weather is not a problem.
We have had many cattle sold & weighed at the Barcaldine Sale yards & have no hesitation in recommending this facility to beef producers from all areas.”
