Selling
As an ‘open saleyard’, we invite enquiries from all agents and vendors interested to market their cattle for sale at Barcaldine and welcome the opportunity to design a sale date to your specs. We have a total of 72 watered internal selling yards under cat walk, accessible via viewing lanes in addition to exterior watering yards. We currently host annual special sales including the show sale of weaner and feeder cattle as well as bull sales.
We are committed to extend this function of the yards, with an open invitation to anyone interested to hold a sale day at Barcaldine.
Weighing
Barcaldine saleyards is equipped with a state of the art weighing facility which is serviced, calibrated and tested annually to ensure industry standards of accuracy are maintained. The design of the weigh bridge allows for minimal stress to animals as they pass through in their lots. Immediate report generation is available to those onsite or via email to agents, buyers and vendors. We acknowledge the important role of acting as the transaction point for cattle sales and are able to offer pre-weigh curfew options at your request. We welcome bookings from agents or directly from vendors. Depending on cattle numbers yard staff are employed to assist with the weighing process, these staff are very experienced and help us ensure your cattle are handled in a manner minimising stress to the animals at all times. We acknowledge the positive outcomes for vendors and buyers of cattle handled well within yard environments and apply this to our practice.
Spelling and feed
Barcaldine saleyards benefits from many factors, key amongst these is its centralised position within the broader Central West Queensland region, at the cross junction of the Capricorn Highway to the east & the Landsborough Highway to the south & west. Well positioned to service cattle movements out of the north and west, Barcaldine saleyards are accessible all hours and are all weather.
Being a smaller enterprise in the scheme of saleyards allows us to offer a tailored, responsive and helpful spelling service to your cattle movements. Double loading ramps and modern yard build style deliver efficiency and safety to your transit cattle operations. Yard staff management are available on request 24/7 to assist where required in arrival and load out. Cattle will have access to well spaced yards with a sandy loam base, designed to ensure maximum access to water troughs and built in off ground hay racks as well as free standing racks. We have your hay feed out requirements covered on site with large 4x4 oaten round bales of high quality and value for purchasers. We endeavour to ensure your transit cattle operations are coordinated in a seamless fashion here at Barcaldine and deliver best practice when it comes to handling your cattle.
